Hard Life of Hollywood

Everyone knows about the life and fame that actors live in. People fail to see that such a small percent of actors make it to Hollywood, or Broadway, instead the majority are just struggling to make a small TV commercial. Acting is a hard, tedious job that takes a long time to succeed in.

Question 1- How are you trying to succeed in your industry?
I am trying to succeed by making myself stand out. Every actor can read lines, but it is how much heart and soul you put into your work. I spend many hours trying to memorize lines and trying to put myself in the situation that the character is in. To succeed in this business you have to have no fear, and a little bit of luck. Actors are not afraid to play any role, instead they strive to play the strange roles that get them noticed. Succeeding in acting is also luck because you have to get the right job which might make you famous. Overall, succeeding in acting is hard, so you have to do something different and know the right people to stand out.

Question 2- How much do you get paid on average?
It really depends on the level of acting you are in. For people just starting out in the business it can be anywhere from unpaid to 5,000 but as you advance up the ladder the pay increases. Actors only get paid if they find a good job or role to play. If people are just going to many auditions but they can’t actually land a role, then they are not being paid at all. Once actors land the perfect role they could end up making up to 1,000,000 dollars a year. Acting is a job with many levels but once someone lands that star role, then they could make millions of dollars.

Question 3-  What requirements are their to get into this career?
There are no actual requirements, just a lot of recommendations. One recommendation is attending a four year university that specials in acting. This will help you learn the skills required to get roles and stay in the business. Another recommendation is a good agent. The better the agent the more connections he or she has, and the better auditions you will receive. Acting is all about getting the one role that gets people to know who you are, and the better agent you have, the higher chances you have of finding that one role. To be an actor you have to have some talent. This is a skill some are born with, while others try and achieve this in schooling. Overall, acting takes a lot of work, try, and ambition.
