Mission Statement: Aims and Values of Blizzard Entertainment

On Blizzard Entertainment's very own website, www.blizzard.com, they have a page dedicated to their mission statement. They have 8 core values that represent the principles and beliefs that have guided their company throughout the years. On this blog post, I will be doing some Q&A based on their mission statement.

What is the primary goal of Blizzard Entertainment?
"Everything we do at Blizzard Entertainment is based on the success of the gaming experience we provide our players. The goal of each discipline within the company -- be it art, programming or customer support -- is to make our games as fun as possible for as many people as we can reach."
This is true because after years of playing their game, what I noticed is that it's not just their game that is good and fun. Blizzard is known for their outstanding annual convention called "Blizzcon" and it is a place where people celebrate their passion for the Blizzard games and it is often expressed by dressing up as one of the characters from the games. Blizzard always strives to be the best in every aspect and that is why they are able to be so successful.

What does Blizzard Entertainment value the most?
"Blizzard polish" doesn't just refer to our gameplay experiences, but to every aspect of our jobs. We approach each task carefully and seriously. We seek honest feedback and use it to improve the quality of our work. At the end of the day, most players won't remember whether the game was late -- only whether it was great.

What does Blizzard Entertainment do to extend their success to other countries?
"We think globally. Everywhere on the planet there are people who play Blizzard Entertainment games. While respecting the cultural diversity that makes people unique, we strive to grow and support our global gaming community. We also seek the most passionate, talented people in the world to enrich our company and help us forge the future vision of Blizzard Entertainment."
This is reflected through my own experience because when I went back to South Korea, I saw so many advertisements on Blizzard games and I saw numerous people hyped about playing Blizzard games like Starcraft and World of Warcraft. There are even annual championship for games like Starcraft that takes place in the capital of South Korea. This just proves how great Blizzard was in branching off to foreign countries and being successful.

What has Blizzard Entertainment done to differentiate themselves from other game developers?
"Since the founding of Blizzard Entertainment, we've worked to improve through experience, teaching one another and cultivating the desire to be the best at what we do. Employees can count on their peers, managers, and the company itself to be supportive and help them gain the knowledge and training they need."
